Haiku in Blue Series

This series explores a monochromatic palette coupled with black asemic characters depicting a tiny moment in time, like the poetry form. I rarely work in blue and this series challenged me to push myself to find the beauty and flow in my most underused color. I painted a number of the papers which were inspired by looking at samples of Boro textiles.

Remains of the Day Series

This series came about when I was cleaning up my studio and threw away a lot of small scraps of paper.  I then ended up going through the garbage and challenging myself to make pieces from the remnants.

Learning Curves Series

This series was created after discovering a new cutting tool that allowed me to make much larger circles and arcs.  As I practiced on the black paper, I was inspired to incorporate the pieces along with some vintage ephemera into a new body of work.

Sidewalk Series

This series came about during my many solitary walks.  Having balance issues, I frequently look at the ground and I began noticing crack patterns in the sidewalks that inspired me to create pieces based on those random "designs."  The pieces are named after the  street intersections where I found that section of sidewalk.

Saturation Point

This series stemmed from the discovery of a box of old, color-saturated papers that my father, a career painter and sculptor, used to have in his studio.  I began playing with them and coming up with color combinations that were  challenging to me and yet also very pleasing at the same time.  I am planning on using these pieces as an inspiration for larger works.
